All international students from AFDB member countries can apply for the African Development Bank (AfDB) Virtual Internship Program – Session II. This is a paid internship program for talented students. Program participants are selected on a competitive basis based on the bank’s business needs.

So Established in 1964, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is a pan-African development institution that promotes economic growth and social development across the continent. There are 81 member states, of which 54 are from Africa (regional member states). The Bank’s Development Agenda provides financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In order to focus sharply on the goals of the Ten Year Strategy (2013-2022) and ensure maximum development impact, five main sectors (High 5s) have been identified, all of which will accelerate our delivery to Africa. It has been done, namely: energy, agribusiness, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life of people in Africa. AFDB 2023 Virtual Internship Program Details:

Objectives:
The broad objectives of the program are:
To provide students with the opportunity to gain professional and practical experience in the African Development Bank.
Provide the bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.
However, applicants should not expect that an internship will lead to immediate employment with the bank.
Fields of study required for the internship:
The fields of study from which interns are selected should be within the bank’s job family, particularly economics, agriculture, private sector development, human capital development (education and health), environment, finance, infrastructure development. Human resource management, Information technology. , communications, law, internal audit, budgeting, administration or any other field of study that the Bank deems relevant to its operations.
Special consideration will be give to students works on projects that have a direct impact on the bank’s mission.
Timeline of the 2nd Section of the Internship Program 2022:
The 2022 internship program will run from August 2, 2022 to December 2022.
Rules and conditions:
- Each candidate completes an internship for a minimum of three (3) months and a maximum of six (6) months. The internship is done only once for each distance learning candidate
- Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, interns will not have to travel to the office. The internship will take place remotely from the intern’s respective locations. Thus, interns are expected to has access to a personal computer, a reliable Internet connection, and a conducive environment that allows for smooth and uninterrupted remote work.
- In some cases, and especially where duties and responsibilities cannot assigned to interns, the Bank may exceptionally approve on-site internships. In such cases:
- Interns will be responsible for their transportation (in case of air transportation) to and from the bank location.
- Only interns who are fully vaccinate against COVID-19 will access the bank’s office premises.
- The Bank will make reasonable efforts to assist the trainees concerned in obtaining their entry and residence visas.
- Eligible interns will benefit from bank paid health insurance for the duration of their internship.
- Eligible interns will be provided with a monthly stipend.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to participate in the internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have reached the age of majority in their nationality or country of origin and must not exceed thirty (30) years of age at the time the internship program begins.
- Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program at an accredited public or private university.
- Applicant may apply for internship within one (1) year of obtaining such degree.
- Be a citizen of AFDB member countries.
- Provide a letter from your school confirming their enrollment or a copy of the above degree. Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the bank’s two working languages (English or French).
- Be able to use the bank’s standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); Knowledge of SAP is a must.

Specific subjects and professional areas of expertise is aligne with the bank’s ten-year strategy (TYS) and gender strategy. In addition to the bank’s employment areas, the following areas will addressed:
